Sememe does not collect or transmit any personal data. The documents you translate never leave your device.
What the app does with your documents
When you open a document, Sememe copies it into a temporary folder inside the app, translates it there, and deletes the copy when you close the document or open another one. Copies left behind if the app is stopped are deleted the next time it starts. The original file is never changed.
The translated file is written only where you choose to save or share it. Paper documents you scan with the camera are treated the same way: they are kept only in that temporary folder, and only while they are open.
Translation and key facts
Translation uses Apple’s on-device Translation framework. Apple’s system downloads the language models once per language pair; your documents are not part of that download and are not sent to Apple. The key-facts card (document type, sender, deadline, amount, reference) is read by Apple’s on-device language model, on devices with Apple Intelligence. Text recognition for scans uses Apple’s Vision framework, also on the device.
Reminders
If you tap “Add Deadline to Reminders”, the app asks for access to Reminders and adds one reminder with the document’s name and deadline to your default list. It does not read your other reminders or calendars.
What is stored on your device
To count the three free documents, the app keeps a SHA-256 fingerprint of each document counted, never its name or contents. The fingerprints are stored in UserDefaults on your device and are not transmitted anywhere.
No network access

On iPhone and iPad, the app contains no networking code of its own and no third-party SDKs or analytics libraries.
Purchases
Sememe Pro is a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store. All payment processing is handled by Apple. Quiet Signals Lab receives no financial data, no payment information, and no App Store receipt data beyond what Apple’s standard royalty reporting provides (aggregate sales counts, no individual identifiers).
No accounts, no tracking
There is no sign-in, no user account, no device identifier collection, no crash reporting, and no analytics. If you encounter a bug, you report it manually by email.
Children
Sememe does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. There is nothing to collect.
GDPR (EU/EEA users)
Quiet Signals Lab is registered in the Netherlands (KvK 99556650). Because the app processes no personal data on behalf of users — all processing occurs on-device and no data is transmitted to Quiet Signals Lab or any third party — there is no data processing relationship to which GDPR applies. Changes to this policy
If the app’s data handling ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect, with a new “last updated” date. The current policy always applies to the current version of the app.
